Bidwell out for the year

So much for having the P spot locked!
So much for having the P spot locked!

Wow. One of the positions that has not seen limbo in years (and was arguably our strongest position and offensive MVP for a few of them) will see a new player. Josh Bidwell had an injury to his hip “flare up,” and that injury will keep him out of the Preseason opener for certain. The Bucs are bringing in potential ‘stop-gaps’ until the extent of the injury can be ascertained. Many sites are already claiming that this will end Bidwell’s season. I hope they are premature (as most have already pronounced the Buc’s season dead as well) but I also understand the importance of Josh in this lineup. I know many of you coveted Shane Lechler, but Bidwell has been a consistent performer for us for years in both punting and holding for place kicks. These are positions that are often overlooked but are key to success of a team. The field position battle is in large part defined by punt depth, hang time and accuracy and placekicking, well…that leads to points! Ask Dallas how important the holder is!

Here’s wishing Josh and the team good news from the specialist and a speedy return to the lineup!
