Culture Change Is Starting Even With The Fans

December 15, 2016 RickHughes View from the Cheap Seats

So Dirk wanted a culture change?  Well, it looks like the team is in the midst of just such a change.  Winning is not hoped for, it is starting to be expected by the players and coaches. Next up, the fans need a culture change.  The fans need confidence to replace fearful hope.  The fans …Read More

Jameis Actual Value vs Perceived Value

October 25, 2016 RickHughes Position Analysis, View from the Cheap Seats, What the Buc?

How valuable is Jameis Winston to the Buccaneers?  Most Bucs fans understand that he is incredibly valuable, but few realize just how valuable Jameis is. When you think about young quarterbacks that start in the NFL the first two that come to mind might be Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott.  They are rookies right out …Read More

Culture and Fan Fatigue

October 5, 2016 RickHughes View from the Cheap Seats

The Buccaneers perennial losing ways are starting to take a toll on many longtime fans.  I am talking about die-hard fans, not run-of-the-mill bandwagon fans.  I am not talking about the casual fans that follow the Bucs when winning.  I am talking about the hard-core believers and fanatics that will follow the team no matter …Read More

Let the “Fire Dirk” Chatter Begin

September 21, 2016 RickHughes View from the Cheap Seats

Right Here. Right Now. This Is The Sweet Spot.

September 8, 2016 RickHughes Features, View from the Cheap Seats

The Bucs had a great run for a while there.  How fun would it be to have a great run like that again? Well, maybe….just maybe…here we go! It’s a lot of fun to win a Superbowl.  Really not much can beat that, and winning a Lombardi Trophy just plain changes things.  It just does. …Read More

Trade Glennon! Trade Glennon!

August 31, 2016 RickHughes Features, View from the Cheap Seats

Imagine an NFL team with a solid and unquestioned young starting quarterback. Imagine that team has a backup quarterback with statistically solid numbers, but nothing overly impressive. Not great. Not bad. What you just imagined was the Bucs. Now imagine an NFL team with a solid and unquestioned young starting quarterback. Imagine that team has …Read More

The Fan View from the Cheap Seats

August 26, 2016 RickHughes Features, View from the Cheap Seats

As I write this I am amazed at how old I sound. You could probably read this in the most extreme old man voice you can muster. Unfortunately I think what I am saying is a very accurate observation. I have been a Buccaneer fan since April 24, 1974. On that fateful Wednesday my mother …Read More
